The Institute of Studies and Development of Galicia (IDEGA) at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) has secured funding from the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities to launch the Strategic Network DESP-OB, an initiative aimed at analyzing, raising awareness of, and addressing depopulation processes in Spain from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The DESP-OB Network is conceived as a space for dialogue between researchers, institutions, local communities, and social actors committed to territorial revitalization. Through applied research activities, knowledge transfer, public communication of science, and collaborative networking, it seeks to build tools to critically and sustainably understand and counter demographic decline.
This institutional support will help consolidate a collaborative ecosystem that combines academic perspectives with the knowledge of local communities, fostering an approach rooted in territory, memory, and social justice.
